New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA)
In January 2002, the Open Public Records Act was signed into law by then Acting Governor DiFrancesco which requires government records to be readily accessible for inspection, copying or examination.
A request form, which includes the requester’s name, address and telephone number and the record sought, must be completed and submitted to the Municipal Clerk as the Custodian of Public Records. The Clerk has (7) seven business days to fulfill your records request. Fees for copies of documents are set forth in the Township Fee Ordinance each year.
All OPRA requests (including requests for Police Records) must be made to the Municipal Clerk.
