In the regular season, ties are valid.  In the Madison playoff games, there will be overtime.  Per the league bylaws:

  • In the event of a tie score at the end of regulation, a 10-minute sudden-victory overtime  shall be played, 7v7.
  • If the game remains tied after the 10-minute overtime the game shall  be decided by a 5-player stroke-off.
  • If it still remains a single player stroke-off will decide the game.

Regular Season Games conclude on 10/27 for both Grades 5/6 and Grades 7/8 Teams.
Practice Sessions for Grades 5 & 6 concluded on 10/24.
There is a final practice session for Grades 7/8 on Monday, 10/28.  (No practice on Halloween.)
All Fall Field Hockey activities will conclude on 11/3 for the Grades 7/8 Team.

 *Parents provide own transportation.
Equipment Needed:  Mouth Guards, Cleats/sneakers, shin guards, Field Hockey Goggles are Optional, Field Hockey Stick (note: a SMALL number of loaner sticks are available on a first come; first-served basis).

Uniforms Required
(We are using the same uniforms, so if you have one from last year, and it still fits--please use that one).
Goalie Equipment is provided and is to be kept in field storage room.

All UNIFORM components will be available to order on Community Pass soon.
Uniforms MUST be ordered by 8/30.
If you have a uniform from a prior year and it still fits, you can wear that.  This year's uniform will be very similar.  We are going to start lettering future uniforms with "Watchung Hills Field Hockey" instead of "Long Hill Field Hockey".  As you will learn, in Field Hockey, it's all about the socks (white for HOME games, and black for AWAY).  The Watchung Hills Field Hockey lettering on the uniforms will look very similar to the Long Hill lettering, and it probably won't be that noticeable.

Cleaning out a garage or basement?  If you come across any Field Hockey sticks that you are no longer using, we are always looking to replenish our supply of loaner sticks for our program.  They can always be left with the Recreation Dept. at Town Hall.  Thank you!

JUNIOR Fall Field Hockey Program

The Junior Fall Field Hockey Program is an instructional field hockey league with a low level of competition and a strong focus on skill development with across the board participation.  All ability levels are welcome.  We also hire an outside organization to come in and teach skills and drills and incorporate this training into our regular practice nights.

If your child is sick, please have them stay home.

Mouth guards, Cleats, Shin Guards, Field Hockey Goggles are optional.

A limited number of loaner sticks are available; first come, first served basis.

As additional Fall information becomes available, it will be posted here.

Please NOTE:  Boys who wish to play Field Hockey are permitted to by the league.  Please contact the Recreation Dept. with any questions.
